Mark Mathis
Mark Mathis is reminiscent of the instrumentation of parlor-rock greats, 'Hem' combined with the grit of Jeff Tweedy's, 'Wilco', and the addictive qualities of 'Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers'. Their style has been described as 'blue-collar rock', 'indiecana', and 'dark folk'. They are versatile. Currently touring four albums worth of material, it is anyone's guess what they will choose to play during their shows. Their lush instrumentation consists of everything from banjo and mandolin to a biting 'tele' and wurlitzer. The main writer, mark mathis, formed 'Public Radio' in late 2006 as another creative musical outlet and to escape the 'singer/songwriter' pigeonhole. Mark hails from Charlotte, NC and maintains a sizeable local following there.
